snakes

Snakes are reptiles which means a cold-blooded vertebrate animal of a group that includes snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and tortoises. They have a dry scaly skin.
                                                                                    
Appearance

There are 3000 species of snake living on earth. Most snakes are up to 1.5 meters long. Red and yellow snakes are all poisonous. Other snakes all have grey, brown and black skin. Snakes with teeth have their teeth pointing in towards their mouth which means their prey can't escape. They have oily skin.

Reproduction
Most snakes have eggs but some don't. The eyelash viper gives birth to live. The egg is leathery and is not hard like the egg of a bird.  The snake in the egg uses a special egg tooth to chip its way out of the egg. The snake inside the egg is all coiled up. When it hatches the snake is 7 times longer than the egg.

Habitat
Land snakes are found in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America.
Diet
Snakes are carnivores and eat mice, worms, cats, dogs, birds. The Anaconda eats caiman a type of crocodile it wraps around its prey to make sure it doesn't escape.

Some snakes can be very deadly.
